Dr José Antonio Ortiz

Bachelor of Chemistry specialized in Biochemistry from Universidad de Barcelona. He conducted his doctoral thesis in the Department of Molecular Biology of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the same University. During 1997-2000 he carried out a postdoctoral stay (Marie Curie Fellowship) at IGBMC in Strasbourg (France). His work during this period focuses on the study of the mechanisms of action of steroid hormone receptors. When he came back to Spain, he started working at the Neuroscience Institute in Alicante as a researcher in the Programme "Ramón y Cajal". In 2006 he started working at Instituto Bernabeu Biotech. He recently completed his training with the Master in "Statistics in Health Sciences" at Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona.

He is a Professor of Master’s Programme in Human Reproduction, University of Alicante.

2nd place American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) prize winner for the best conference poster. October 2012.

He is also an appraiser of ANEP projects and various research agencies at Autonomous Communities.

During his scientific career he has published more than 30 articles in international journals in the field of Molecular Biology and Human Genetics.

Today his focus is on the study of polymorphisms and genetic variants associated with fertility (poor ovarian response and implantation failure) and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (aCGH and NGS).
