Our semen bank, borne out by a wide experience, includes samples coming from our patients and also samples coming from anonymous male donors that are kept frozen and stored at -196º, which enables us to keep these samples useful during an indefinite time.
Patients. Preservation.
The reasons why a patient decides to freeze his semen can be different and include from patients that are going to undergo assisted reproduction treatments and that due to different causes are not going to be able to be present at the moment their semen is required and also patients that are going to undergo any kind of treatment or surgery such as vasectomies or chemotherapy treatments and/or radiotherapy.
As far as oncological patients are concerned, several researches state that between 15-30% of the males that overcome a cancer remain sterile and that this percentage can increase up to 90% in the case of Hodgkin’s disease or testicular cancer.
In general, we recommend the criopreservation of at least two samples of semen with a difference of 48-72 hours in order to obtain a reasonable number of doses for future Assisted Reproduction treatments.
