Preconception diagnosis pack

The main objective of the preconception care is to promote the health of women and their descendant. At present, the new technique give us the opportunity to go ahead so we can detect the possible risks before thinking of looking for pregnancy. Been able to control it or removing it in an early stage in the foetus (prenatal) or even at a preimplantation level.

There are different test that give us information quite quickly of the risk of transmitting a specific illness. Preconceptionally we can evaluate:

• Genetic karyotype to both members of the couple. This will give us the numeric or structural alterations that can cause implantation failure or repeated miscarriages.
• Sieve for cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is the recessive genetic illness more prevalent (1/40 people are carriers). Because is a recessive illness the carriers do not have any symptoms but have a high risk of passing on the illness to the descendant, if the other member of the couple is also a carrier. For this reason the preconception sieve give us the opportunity to know the carrier status of the illness in the couple and the possibility of transmitting the illness.
• Seminal FISH. This test enable us to determine the spermatozoid percentage with a number of abnormal chromosomes and therefore if there is a higher risk of fertility problem such as repeated miscarriages or implantation failure.
