Sperm capacitation

Sperm capacitation refers to the phisiological changes suffer by the spermatozoide naturally to be able to fertilize the egg. Sperm capacitation can be done in the laboratory. Sperm capacitation consist on preparing the sperm, selecting and concentrating the mobile spermatozoids to be able to obatin the best quality and efectiviness in the process.

It is used in assited reproduction techniques such as artificial insemination or In Vitro Fertilization.

It can also be used as a diagnostic test for the masculine factor, it help to assess the capacity of the spermatozoid to fertilize the egg.
