IB BIOTECH is an apparently new company, but has a great experience; it is born as a new section of the Instituto Bernabeu SL genetic and molecular biology department, which has a consolidated path behind it. As a result of the experience of the genetic department, it will be interesting to point out the following achievements, using PGD technique (Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis):

  • The first worldwide birth in summer 2004, of a girl born free of suffering from hereditary blidness (Retinoschisis).
  • The first application of the MDA technique in PGD, being the first worldwide birth in February 2006, of a boy born free of suffering from Marfan Syndrome, among others.

At the same time, this Instituto Bernabeu’s department, co-direct the Biotechnology Chair at the Alicante University and is been doing importants works of I+D+I.

As a result of this great investigating work, thaey have more than a hundred cientific investigating works published in first line cientific magazines.

IB BIOTECH was born to care for the needs of Reproductive Medicine Centres and for the general population to have at their disposal practical, efficient and reliable genetics and molecular biology services.

The process begins with the daily medical proceedings, when we realize that molecular biology and genetics technology, needed to be able to treat most cases successfully, for its complexity and high cost it is not always accessible for all centres.
